With a growing global footprint, Al Jazeera broadcasts reach more than 220 million households on six continents in more than 100 countries. To better serve their growing regional consumers, Phase2 created an enterprise platform to deploy regional sites quickly and efficiently. The first site to be deployed on this new platform is Al Jazeera Balkans.
Built on OpenPublish, the platform allows for rapid implementation of new sites, features, and functionality. Using this platform for Al Jazeera Balkans, we were able to effectively spin up a new website with customized features and design for the local audience in a matter of weeks. Our multi-site platform approach allowed Al Jazeera to launch a new media presence at a fraction of the cost of building a custom website from scratch.
This type of rapid localization and deployment included key features such as a code-based platform that was clone-able. The entire platform was built for responsive design giving users a consistent look and feel when accessing the site from a mobile device. Phase2 partnered with Mark Boulton Design, based in the UK for a customized regional design of the site.
Additionally, by integrating Brightcove into OpenPublish, we created a powerful video platform. With the integration, content producers at Al Jazeera are able to keep up with breaking news with embeddable video functionality and live streaming capabilities. Additionally, OpenPublish's section front functionality gives content editors the power to quickly rearrange the layout of the site with drag & drop functionality.
