As one of our esteemed Web Developers, Tracy Smith affords us his vast experience in programming, database design, and project management. He has been developing web applications since 1999 and has used various languages and technologies including ColdFusion and PHP.
Tracy is actively involved in the Drupal community and was the lead programmer and architect for 12seconds.tv (a video messaging platform), which leveraged Drupal. He also authored Drupal Intranets with Open Atrium.
“I’m always looking for the next way to support or increase clients’ success using Drupal. And working for Phase2 means I get to make that happen every day.”
His entrepreneurial spirit has been a key component to Tracy’s success in interacting with clients and team members on business and user-experience related technology solutions. In fact, he used that passion to found his own technology consulting firm called Alpha Geek Tech, LLC. He also served as Technology Director for Quiddities Dev., Inc., in Santa Cruz, CA, before moving to the DC area to join Phase2.
He earned a BS in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration from Wingate University.

As a programmer, one of the things that I enjoy most is solving problems by creating new solutions. While I enjoy solving complex larger issues, I also love fixing existing problems in the form of a bug. Bugs usually have a distinct problem that needs to be solved. When I am working on a bug fix, my mind usually cannot rest until I have come up with a sufficient solution.
